ALBERTA & SASKATCHEWAN

From Dinosaurs to Deep Cuts

This fall, Deep Trouble packed up the “Flying Monkey” (aka, the van) once again—guitars, amps, snacks, and oh so much gear—and hit the road from British Columbia to Saskatchewan. The mission: to woodshed a batch of brand-new songs, catch some unexpected adventures, and maybe make a little noise along the way.

The first stop? Drumheller, Alberta—the self-proclaimed “Dinosaur Capital of the World.” We couldn’t resist. Between the prehistoric sculptures and dusty badlands, it felt like the perfect backdrop to film a video for our song “I Can Do Weird.” Let’s just say nothing makes you question your own weirdness quite like performing next to a 40-foot animatronic T. rex.

Next, we rolled into Humboldt, Saskatchewan, where the amazing crew at 107.5 The Bolt FM invited us in for an interview and a live acoustic performance. There’s something about stripping the songs down to their bones in a small-town radio station that reminds us why we started doing this in the first place.

From there, we made our way to St. Gregor, SK—population 100—where the local community hall became our rehearsal space, hangout spot, and makeshift recording studio for a week. Between the creaky floors, the echo off the walls, and the sound of prairie wind outside, it turned out to be the perfect place to get lost in the music and chase new ideas.

To wrap things up, we stopped in Regina to record the new tracks at the home studio of a longtime friend. Picture a cozy space filled with high-end gear, great vibes, and the kind of creative energy that makes the hours disappear.

After thousands of kilometers, a few late-night jam sessions, and a new appreciation for 5-pin bowling, we came home with a batch of new songs we can’t wait to share.

Stay tuned—more Road Stories, weird adventures, and new music are on the way.
